Volunteer
History and YouDo you like history, research, and working with the public? The Sacramento History Museum is always looking for new volunteers to enrich our programs! We have many opportunities available, such as assisting with our educational programs and special events, providing administrative support, and recreating Sacramento’s early days with our Living History Program.
Applicants should be comfortable interacting with the public and working with diverse groups ranging from older adults to small children. We require a year-long commitment and a minimum of 20 hours. Training is provided for all programs.
Year Round and Seasonal Volunteer Opportunities:

- Sacramento History Museum Docent (responsibilities may include):
- Presenting educational programs to visiting schools
- Assisting with special museum events, such as Free Museum Day
- Community Outreach
- Assisting with our annual History Camp
- Administrative Work, such as assisting with mailings
- Special Museum projects

All interested applicants must be 18 or older. Interested volunteers should download and fill out the SHA Volunteer Application. Please read through the application, as it contains important program information.
