Play Ball!

The Sacramento History Museum presents an all-new Play Ball! Sacramento in the National Pastime! Located in the R. Burnett & Mimi Glide Miller Gallery in the Museum, the exhibition is filled with historical baseball uniforms, bats, balls, and gloves and more. Plus, if you are heading out to a game at Sutter Health Park, show us your same day game ticket and you’ll receive half off Museum admission! Play Ball! is presented by SMUD and runs through October 2026.

Powder, Poker & Petticoats

Step into the spirited world of the Old West with an afternoon of historic firearms, games of chance, and legendary characters brought to life. Join Sacramento Living History on Saturday, June 13th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at 1002 Second Street in Old Sacramento for this free, lively saloon-style experience for all ages. You never know what, or who, you might discover!

Time-Travelers' Ball

Step into an unforgettable evening of mystery, music, and time-bending adventure at the Sacramento History Museum. Wander through immersive spaces inspired by different eras as the museum transforms into a journey through time. Dress in your favorite masquerade attire, vintage fashion, steampunk, or time traveler-inspired look and prepare for a night unlike any other. It happens June, 26, 2026

Sacramento's Youth Musicians

Under the musical direction of Harley White Jr., this series highlights the incredible talent being cultivated in Sacramento while connecting audiences to the stories and sounds that have shaped our city. Support local youth musicians, celebrate Sacramento’s vibrant music community, and enjoy an evening where history and music come alive.

Girl Scouts - Junior Badge

Attention Girl Scouts! Junior Badge- Playing the Past, Saturday, June 27, 2026

This event will include: A Gold Fever! interactive tour, Calligraphy lesson and a letter home activity, Historical dress up and Silhouette craft.

Cost is $15 per Girl Scout, Troop Leader Free, $6 per Adult. Tickets can be purchased on our website.

Underground Tours

It’s June! It’s a time for new adventures…and it’s time to do a bit of time traveling… in the Underground. 

Go Underground seven days a week and learn how Sacramento lifted itself up out of the flood waters during the 1860s and 1870s! (Times are listed on the right) Your tour ticket includes museum admission! Tours run rain or shine.

 

After Hours Underground Tour

As the nights draw near, the denizens of Sacramento City are raring to show fine citizens the seedier side of the Gold Rush…in a whole new way. Just as in our regular Underground tours, our guides divulge matters they just can’t discuss on the daytime tours: Murder, mischief, madness, mayhem – and madams! Meet swindlers, soiled doves and sneaky speculators!

 Red, White & Vintage Fashion Show

Step into an afternoon of timeless elegance at the Red, White & Vintage Fashion Show: An Afternoon of Classic Glamour, Sunday, July 26, from 2:00–5:00 PM. Travel through the decades as vintage fashion comes to life, showcasing iconic styles filled with charm, sophistication, and nostalgia. Featuring a selection of iced teas, sweet and savory bites. 

Blue Star Museum

As a Blue Star Museum, we are proud to welcome the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families (maximum 6 admissions), including National Guard and Reserve to visit the Museum for free this summer. Show your Military ID at the Front Desk beginning on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 16 through Labor Day, September 7 and enjoy a day of learning about the history of early Sacramento. Offer also extends to veterans. Does not include public tours or ticketed events.
