Status: $15/hour, min 8hrs/week-max 16hrs/week

The Sacramento History Alliance (SHA) is dedicated to making Sacramento’s history accessible to all. In partnership with the City and County of Sacramento, SHA operates the Sacramento History Museum, creates interpretive programs in Old Sacramento, and supports programs, events, and collections care at the Center for Sacramento History.

 

About Ghost Tours

Ghost Tours are the production of the Sacramento Living History Volunteer Group in partnership with the Sacramento History Museum and California State Parks. These tours are not paranormal (or about the paranormal) but instead tell historic true macabre tales from the late 19th century in Sacramento.

 

Position Summary:

The Ghost Tour Internship will take place between the dates of September 1-November 4. This intern will assist in the behind-the-scenes aspect of our Ghost Tours working specifically with Sacramento History Museum staff. Our behind-the-scene roles include crowd management, lighting, props, scene staging, and before and after set-up/take-down. Tours are each 1-hour long and the final tour departs at 9pm.

 

This intern must be able to attend all rehearsals and performances in addition to planning meetings. Please note some dates are subject to change depending on our volunteer casts’ availability.

            Rehearsal Dates: September 10 (Other dates TBD)

Performance Dates: October 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29

 

Position Requirements:

  • Dedicated team player who may also work independently to complete assigned tasks.
  • Some experience with theater or performance work.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Outgoing and has excellent communication skills.
  • Self-reliance and punctuality.
  • Love of history a must and knowledge of Sacramento history a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position requires standing for multiple hours and lifting heavy materials.

The successful candidate will be notified by August 24th and will then be required to get a background check. Start date is September 1st unless otherwise discussed.
